Notre Dame was selected as the fourth and final College Football Playoff team on Sunday, joining No. 1 Alabama, No. 2 Clemson, and No. 3 Ohio State.
The Irish, coming off a blowout loss to Clemson in the ACC Championship Game, are a sound underdog now to win the whole thing according to BetMGM.

Beating Alabama, who will be a 17-plus point favorite will be hard enough for Notre Dame, who hasn’t performed well on the biggest post-season stages since the early nineties.
Then meeting either Clemson or Ohio State would see Notre Dame as a significant underdog again, no doubt.
It’s certainly not favorable to think that Notre Dame is going to win a game in the playoff, let alone the entire thing.
But you can bet your bottom dollar I’d rather be playing in the semi-final and facing a possible blowout than I would have a favorable match-up in a New Year’s Six Bowl.
